Savour New Zealand
THE EVENTS COMPANY is instrumental in organising Savour New Zealand, the prestigious food and wine event held every two years in Christchurch. At the 2005 Savour New Zealand opening cocktail party at Christchurch's Convention Centre in May, a Ngai Tahu concert party performed for over 600 attendees before the weekend was officially opened by Prime Minister Helen Clark. The following evening at the American Express Gala Dinner at Christchurch's atmospheric Caledonian Hall, 250 attendees were treated to a stunning food-themed show created especially for the evening by theatre group Chant e Danse, before being entertained by poet Sam Hunt, actor Mark Hadlow, and author Margaret Mahy. A special menu was created by chefs Michael Lee Richards and Tina Duncan, and served by White Tie Catering.
Le Race
THE EVENTS COMPANY created and organise the successful cycle race Le Race, which took place in March 2005 for the seventh time. Competitor numbers have been steadily increasing each year and 2005 was the most successful year yet, with over 1000 cyclists completing the spectacular course over the Port Hills to Akaroa to receive a French stick and bottle of wine. www.lerace.co.nz
Connect Canterbury
Asked by local technology firm Connect Canterbury to create a launch function that would enable them to take advantage of networking opportunities, THE EVENTS COMPANY organised a 'launch with a difference' in June 2005, choosing the CoCA Art Gallery as a venue. Over 150 attendees from the technology industry and local government bodies took part in 'speed networking' sessions and listened to speeches from key technology figures before mixing informally over drinks and nibbles in this striking venue.
LPC Long Lunch
As a celebration of local produce, business and industry, the LPC Long Lunch is positioned to be one of the top corporate events in the South Island and has the ability to attract representatives of nearly all major South Island export and import businesses. The LPC Long Lunch provides new networking opportunities for a large number of local businesses and also an environment where business success and local industry can be celebrated.
The LPC Long Lunch is a perfect opportunity to entertain clients and reward staff while raising money for an important local charity. Seated on one long beautiful table under the trees in Hagley Park, guests will enjoy the pleasures of a three-course lunch with matched wine and local entertainment.
Chinese Lantern Festival 2005
Brought to Christchurch by the Asia:NZ Foundation the inaugural Christchurch Chinese Lantern Festival ran in March 2005. Held in Victoria Square, the park was festooned with colourful and decorative lanterns of all shapes and sizes, creating a magical atmosphere. With international and local traditional performances, music, punting on the river and a variety of food and craft stalls, it was an experience to remember!

The annual Canterbury Registered Master Builders House of the Year and Commercial Awards is the premier building event in Canterbury. With over 100 entries in the competition, two judging teams travelling throughout Canterbury and a Gala Awards night for over 500 to organise, this event is an example of what THE EVENTS COMPANY does best. THE EVENTS COMPANY has been managing the competition and awards since 2001.
Parenting Week
Parenting Week is an annual event supporting parents in what is perhaps the most important job they will ever do. Developed by the Christchurch City Council in 2000, it raises awareness of the programmes and support services that are out there for parents. THE EVENTS COMPANY has managed the week since its inception and next year hopes to run the event nationally throughout New Zealand.
